1- About Our Department

In the Department of Field Crops, our students take theoretical courses for seven semesters and workplace practice for one semester, in accordance with the 7 + 1 system.


2- Why Should It Be Preferred?

Field crops include those that feed the world population and form a significant amount of raw materials for the agro-based industry. The food sector that processes raw materials based on agriculture and livestock and produces foodstuffs suitable for consumption by performing food control services in various aspects to ensure safe food production; It is in continuous development due to various factors such as changes in life styles (rapid population growth, gaining importance of time factor and increasing income level, etc.), modernization, new technological advances, and increasing variety of products. Therefore, the development of the food sector in Turkey in parallel with foreign developments, the increase of quality production and competition in the foreign market, closely monitoring the very fast scientific and technical developments, technology transfer, the production of various and high quality products.

The main purpose of the department is to do education and research on the above-mentioned plants, especially on breeding issues. The Department of Field Crops aims to provide education to the private sector and official institutions at undergraduate and graduate levels in order to train agricultural engineers and researchers. He conducts researches with projects on plant breeding, abiotic and biotic stress tolerance issues and solving problems related to growing techniques encountered in plant production.

In an environment that integrates research, practice and training, by developing a unique professional understanding in lifelong learning and service, generally responsible and environmentally sensitive to serve the society in the fields of agriculture and especially field crop cultivation and breeding, who can practically use and apply their education in the field, 21 It is the training of well-educated agricultural engineers who have the knowledge, equipment, skills and skills to meet the needs of the century.

To train Agricultural Engineers, High Agricultural Engineers and Doctorate Agricultural Experts, who are equipped with basic knowledge of Agricultural Engineering and the ability to apply this knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge, can produce dynamic solutions to the problems of Field Crops agriculture, have a high competitive power in the globalizing world. - is the goal of education.

It is aimed that the theoretical and practical knowledge of our students are competitive with the graduates of all universities at international level. To do advanced scientific research and studies, to bring innovations to our country and the world agriculture. During the 4-year undergraduate education, to train agricultural engineer students in the cultivation techniques and breeding of all field crops, to contribute to the national economy in different branches of field crops with R&D supported individual and guided projects, to carry out productive and high quality breeding studies in large plants, It is among our goals to promote. In addition, it is aimed to follow the developments related to our subjects in cooperation with national and international organizations and universities related to the subject and to lead them to be used in our country.


5- Education Opportunities

Our school has sufficient opportunities as a technological and academic staff. The department consists of a single department under the name of Field Crops Division. 3 Doctor Instructors and administrative staff work in the field crops department. All of the professors of our department have professional experience and have signed many academic studies in their fields.


6- Laboratory Facilities

Our school, which is in good condition in terms of Student Laboratory capacity balance, has biotechnology, quality, tissue culture and computer laboratories. Laboratories are equipped with the necessary equipment and are open to development.


7- Course Contents

While preparing the course ECTS and contents of our department, preparation is made by taking the course contents of local and foreign faculties of agriculture into consideration. Teaching - learning methods and strategies are chosen to increase students' skills such as self-study, lifelong learning, observation, teaching, presenting, critical thinking, teamwork, and effective use of informatics. In addition, attention is paid to ensure that the teaching style supports students with different abilities.

Graduates of the Field Crops Department; Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture and District Directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Agricultural Research Institutes and various other official institutions, cooperatives for agricultural purposes, factories where agricultural products are processed (feed, sugar, canned food, tomato paste, cigarette, etc.), seed companies and fertilizers and pesticides. He can work in private marketing companies. They have the opportunity to open agricultural consultancy offices and laboratories, establish private businesses and carry out their own agricultural activities. They can become researchers or academicians by continuing their postgraduate education at universities and research institutions.
